Latin Name: Salvia officinalis

Family: Lamiaceae (Labiatae)

Plant Part: Leaves, flowers, buds  (plant)

Method: Distillation

Note/Element: Note: Top/Middle Element: Metal

Functional Groups: Terpenes, sisquiterpene, alcohol, ester, oxide, ketone, aldehyde.

Type: Stimulating, purifying.

Ayurvedic Doshas: Kapha

Scent: Herbaceous, penetrating, caphoreous, sweet, fruity.

For Skin Type: NoneCautions: Not during pregnancy or nursing, Not with estrogen dependent cancers, Not for high blood pressure, Skin-sensitizing, Never with children, TOXIC,  Not with epilepsy. This oil is neurotoxic.

Physical Uses: Infection, immune system, colds, flu, induces menstruation.

Mental/Emotional Uses: Depression, uplifting mental fatigue.

Other Uses: Room purification, ritual, space clearing, men’s cologne and aftershave.

Blends Well With: Leaves, citrus, flowers.

News You Can Use:  Sage is derived from Latin word “salvia” meaning “to heal”.
